Bring out the pointy hats, the pirate eye-patches and the mummy bandages, it’s Halloween! And if you have decided to throw a bash on the spooky eve of this festival then make sure you strike the chords right. Decorating party venues in London for Halloween is not a toughie. Once the jack-o’-lanterns are hung and lit and the pumpkin pies are ready to be served, then sit down and prepare a few games for the evening. That is because on this festival the adults also like to let go completely and engage themselves in fun. So, organising games can be a great way of making this party a memorable affair.
What’s Your Story?
This one always manages to set the mood for such a gathering. So, try and get over with this game in the beginning of the evening itself. Follow three simple steps and this game is ready to be played!
1. Make some chits, equalling the number of guests at the party.
2. Write two or three words in each of these chits. Make sure that the words are such that they can be used as ingredients for a horror tale. Like ‘dark night’, ‘forest-witch’, ‘lonely road-red eyes”.
3. Now put these chits in a bowl and randomly pick guests and ask them to choose one slip. Everyone has to weave a ghost story around the words they get.
Fastest Mummy
This one is a lot of fun to play. So, host should try and be a part of this one instead of sitting in a corner. Make sure that everybody’s drinks and snacks are kept aside as this one involves a lot of movement.
1. Take four placards of the same colour. Write the word “worker” in three of them and “mummy” in the fourth.
2. Divide the guests into a group of four and ask one each team member of every group to pick a card.
3. The worker players have to wrap up the mummy from head to toe as fast as possible. The fastest team wins.
Do keep in mind to have loads of tissue rolls ready. Also, remind each player to be very careful while wrapping the mummy. Strict instructions about leaving the nose and the eyes uncovered should be given.
Chamber Of Secret
Only those with good planning skills can organise this successfully. But if done right, then this will manage to keep the heart beat of your guests racing. Though, the host will require the help of a friend for this one.
1. Make a little room with the help of card-boards or wooden planks in one corner of the room. You can even rent a huge box and place it horizontally such that it works like a broom cupboard.
2. Ask any one of your friends to sneak into this room/box dressed in all blacks a few minutes before the game. She/he can also carry a fake axe and wear a mask if required. Make sure this area is dark.
3. Make the rest of the guests sit in a circle and pass a pumpkin as the music plays. Who ever has the pumpkin when the music is randomly stopped, has to spend five seconds in the box. As the victim enters the box and closes the door, your friend is supposed to hold him from behind suddenly.
This game has a cent percent rate of working. Make all the players promise not to reveal what they saw inside the box.
Be ready to claim the title of the “best host” for years of Halloweens to come.
